Amelia is starting VPK at the Elementary school where she will attend Kindergarten. She has been at her current daycare since she was about 18 months old, so this is going to be a big transition for her. To help make the transition a little less harsh, Justin and I have been making a big deal about her starting VPK at her new school. We visited the school, checked out the playgrounds, and continually drive by and excitedly scream out loud “VPK.” I also let her pick out a new backpack and took her back to school shopping with one of my best friends and her daughter.
While I was a bit more excited about the back to school shopping than she was, we had a fun day and besides needing to get her hair trimmed, she is pretty much all set to head to VPK. We had a lot of luck at Target, Old Navy, and Macy’s for clothes and shoes. Pottery Barn Kids is always a win for backpacks and lunch bags.
Target finds:

I love the Cat & Jack line at Target. The quality is great and the clothes withstand the busy (and dirty) life of a kid. The unicorn leggings, jean skirt (with shorts underneath) – similar one here, shorts, striped tank, and watermelon dress are all Cat & Jack. The overalls and romper are Genuine Kids from OshKosh. I cannot find either of those online to link up for you. The “treat yo self” tee is from the Well Worn line. Typically, I do not buy Amelia shirts with sayings or phrases. But, I thought this one was too cute to pass up. Also, based upon my online search to link it here, it is a boys shirt. Go figure. I lucked out and found all of the hanging items in this picture on the clearance rack. If you are local, the Target on University has more of a selection of items in store than our local Bradenton Target does.
Macy’s finds:

Macy’s is a great place to get kids’ clothing, especially because there is always a sale going on. I ordered the overalls, tank, unicorn shirt, and heart shirt online. Apparently I forgot that I ordered Amelia these overalls when I was shopping at Target. Whoops. Anyone else ever do that? #shoppingaddictproblems. The line of the clothing items is Epic Threads and this is the first time I purchased anything from this line. I am interested to see how they stand up to wear and wash.
Amelia has not had a real pair of sneakers in quite a few years. She typically wears Natives, Converse, Vans, or sandals. Now that she is starting VPK at an Elementary school, I thought it was time for her to get a pair. I found these Nike sneakers online at Macy’s and loved the style of them. The sneakers are just as cute in person as they are online. I probably should have bought a different color than white, but I am hoping they wash well.
I also picked her up this Nike outfit with skorts and this Nike outfit with shorts. I figured they would be easy outfits for her to throw on quickly on those mornings we are pressed for time.
Old Navy finds:

Old Navy continues to be a store I regularly shop for clothes for Amelia and myself. It is a great store for staple items and for trendier items you do not want to spend a lot of money on. This time around I shopped for basic items that I can mix and match. These shorts, leggings, jeans, jeggings, shirts, tops, and dresses are standard styles I buy on repeat in different colors and patterns. Old Navy is having great sales for back to school, so now is the perfect time to shop.
Pottery Barn Kids finds:

Pottery Barn Kids definitely is not the least expensive place to get backpacks and lunch boxes, but the quality of its items cannot be matched! Plus, I love the monogram option. I let Amelia choose her backpack this time around and she chose this one, namely because I told her it glowed in the dark. I decided to pick up the matching lunch sack because there was a sale going on at the time I purchased. The size of the backpack we got is the small – I think it is going to be perfect for VPK.
I cannot believe Summer is almost over and that my little girl is heading to VPK. Man, they sure do grow up fast – don’t blink!
