Reunion Resort Recap.

This was our 3rd year heading to the Reunion Resort in Kissimmee (right outside of Orlando) for a weekend getaway.  The past 2 years I booked our trip through Groupon; however, I missed the boat on that deal this year, so, I booked through Expedia.com.  The Reunion Resort is a community with different housing options.  We always stay in the Grande Tower and book a one bedroom unit.  Amelia tends to sleep with us when we are away, so we knew that we did not need to spend the extra money on a two bedroom.  In our experience, there is plenty of space in a one bedroom unit in the Grande Tower.  When I booked on Expedia, I could not quite confirm that we were staying in the Grande Tower. Upon arrival we were told that we were being upgraded to a two bedroom unit in the Grande Tower.  Apparently, I had not booked a unit in the Grande Tower (whoops!).  But, alas, it worked out for us.  This was the second time that we were upgraded at check-in to a two bedroom unit.  Not going to lie, having a two bedroom is nice because we can put Amelia’s clothes and toys in the extra room and she loves the idea of having her own room to play in.  It is also nice to have a second bathroom.  The two bedroom we stayed in this time around had a main balcony off of the dining room and a smaller balcony off of the master bedroom.  It also had a wet bar and a laundry room.  The master bathroom was huge and had his and her sinks on each side.  The bathroom in the second bedroom was a good size as well and had double sinks.

Once we checked in, we changed and went to the Water Park at Reunion Resort.  The Resort has its own water park and our reservations always come with tickets to the same.  The water park is awesome! It has a kid’s area, lazy river, and pool.  Also, there are plenty of chairs and umbrellas and private cabanas that appear to be on a first come, first serve basis.  You can get some tasty adult beverages (and non adult ones as well) and food for the entire family at the tiki bar located at the water park.  In addition, there are servers who come around to your chairs to take your order.  There is a grass area with chess, corn hole, and different activities for kids throughout the day.  We did not take advantage of the goings on in the grass area – we pretty much stick to the kid’s area and the lazy river.  There is a shuttle that picks you up from wherever you are staying within Reunion and takes you to the water park.   This time around we never had to wait more than 5 minutes.  In the past, the wait has been more like 10-15 minutes because the resort was busier.

Friday night we ate at the Grande Lobby Sushi Bar in the lobby of the Grande Tower.  There are 6 restaurants located within the Reunion community and, at the Grande Tower you can also get room service.  The sushi is amazing! Also, the restaurant has a great selection of appetizers and specialty cocktails. Justin got calamari and I got pork dumplings as an appetizer.  We both got sushi for our main course.  That night, however, Amelia decided that she would throw a fit because the sushi bar did not have mac n’ cheese on the menu.  Our server, Sean (a Heaven sent) told us that he would see if he could get mac n’ cheese from one of the other restaurants, but, could not make any promises.  Well, luck must have been on our side, because Sean came through and we had a happy child which meant we could enjoy our dinner.  The service at Reunion is top notch – we have never had a bad experience and it seems like the staff is always willing to do whatever is necessary to make you happy.  Once we got back to the room we sat on our main balcony which had a view of Magic Kingdom and watched the fireworks that MK puts on at night.  It was so nice to hang out on the balcony and enjoy the fireworks.

Saturday morning we woke up (bright and early…ugh. Why do you always get up early on vacation?) and I did not some work out on the balcony while watching an amazing view of sun rise.  Amelia hung out with me and enjoyed watching the golfers at the driving range.  The water park did not open until 10:00a.m., so we took it easy that morning and hung around in our room.  We went downstairs around 9:45a.m. and waited for the shuttle. We were one of the first people to go into the water park, which was nice because I wanted to snag seats in my favorite area.  We enjoyed drinks throughout the day and also ate lunch at the water park.  The food was great! Justin had a cheeseburger, I had chicken quesadillas, and Amelia had a fruit plate and shared some of my quesadillas.  We stayed until a little after 3:00p.m. We did have to wait awhile to get our tab from the server at the water park, but, apparently the delay was caused by it being down a few servers. We had dinner reservations at Delmonico’s Italian Steakhouse for 6:30p.m.  It is about 25 minutes away from the resort.  We got back to the room and I took a little nap, Just watched TV, and Amelia played.  Amelia and I also enjoyed some girl time hanging out in our robes.  Side note, if you are ever in Orlando, you need to go to Delmonico’s Italian Steakhouse- the steaks are out of this world (like better than Bern’s Steakhouse and Ruth’s Chris).  Having dinner at Delmonico’s is another one of our Orlando traditions.  After dinner we headed to Disney Springs.  After driving around for what felt like an eternity to find a parking spot, we walked around for a little bit and Amelia got a Princess Aurora dress.  That night we got back to the hotel and Amelia and I watched the fireworks again, this time from the balcony off of the master bedroom.  We also spied on a wedding that was taking place in the event hall on the premises.

Sunday morning (we woke up early again) and took our time packing up. We ordered room service for breakfast and left around 10:00a.m.  All in all, it was another great stay at the Reunion Resort.  If you are looking for a luxury-style hotel with things for all members of the family to do – this is your place.  There is a golf course, driving range, and spa at the resort too – but, we have not utilized those amenities.  Maybe next year!

One thing Justin and I talked about on the way home was that going later in the Summer (after school starts) was better because the resort was not that crowded. So, I think we may book it around the same time again if we go back next year.

FYI: this post is not sponsored in any way.  We paid our way through the weekend and all opinions are my own.
