Everyday Make-up.

Justin leaves for work earlier than I do (most of the time he leaves before Amelia and I get up).  So, during the work week I am tasked with getting Amelia and I dressed and out of the house in the morning.  I am not a morning person and find myself laying in bed until the last possible minute before I need to get up to leave on time.  After much trial and tribulation, I have come up with this everyday make-up routine that covers all the bases, but takes less than 10 minutes:

  1. I start with IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ in medium tan.  The coverage of this CC cream is amazing and what is even better is that it does not feel heavy on your face at all.  I only use one pump to cover my entire face.
  2. Next, I use the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Anti-Aging Concealer.  Again, the coverage of this concealer is legit and you only need a small amount to cover under your eyes and any other necessary areas, like around the sides/bottom of your nose.
  3. I then contour my face using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Counter Kit.  As you can tell from the picture above, my kit is looking pretty rough these days.  I think I bought my kit at least two years ago and there is still a lot of product left.  I contour along my cheek bone, hair line, jaw line, and down the sides of the bridge of my nose.
  4. Next up is blush.  Recently, I started using the BeautyCounter Illuminating Cream Highlighter in Rose Glow.  I am on the fence about this one because it does not provide as much color as I like.  Upon investigation, I realized that I ordered the highlighter instead of the cream blush – I imagine this is why the color is not as pronounced as I would like. The highlighter goes on very smooth and is easy to apply.
  5. Now it is time for eyes.  For my everyday look, I use the Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil in sparkle nude (under my eyebrow and on my lid) and Iced Mocha (on the outer corners of my lids).  I love how easily the color goes on and stays on.  As for mascara, my favorite is the Monsieur Big by Lancôme.  One of my best friends gave me a tip about mascara – buy the trial size instead of the regular size because typically the regular size dries out before it is empty (thanks, H!).
  6. And, last but not least, lip color.  I tend to alternate between gloss, lip crayon, lipstick, or some combination of the same.   I do not consistently use a lip pencil, although, based upon the fine lines that are setting in around my lips, I probably should.  One of my favorite lip glosses is Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss in Berry.  A bold lip does not offend me, and this lip gloss definitely fits the bill.

To truly show you how fantastic these products are, I ventured out of my comfort zone and made a video of my everyday make-up routine.  This is my first video, so please be kind.  While attempting to make this video, I realized that talking while trying to put on make-up is just not a good look. I mean, you already make enough weird faces while putting on make-up (as can be seen in my video), so why add talking on top of all that? However, to make my silent video less weird, I did play a happy song in the background.  Also, my living room has the best natural light – so, you will be seeing a lot of that gallery wall in any future videos.

The finished look:

What everyday products are you using? I am always looking to try some new beauty items!

Love the lip color. I am experimenting with a matte, bright summer red myself. I just recently discovered It as well, but got medium. Seems too light for me. Suggestions on how to add bronzer or something so I don’t have to pitch the whole thing?

Yes, I have seen you rocking that red lip! Hmm…the only thing I can think of is buying an inexpensive drugstore brand foundation/cc cream/tinted moisturizer in a shade darker than your normal color and mixing the two?!? Ugh, you definitely don’t want to have to pitch it!
